Replacement of damaged wires on the 500 kV EGH “Imeret” overhead power line

On July 27, 2014, a wire was pulled out of the repair clamp placed on one wire of the “C” phase in the N105-106 mall of the 500 kV substation “Imereti”, which caused an emergency shutdown of the line. A similar case was repeated on June 5, 2015, in particular, in the “Imereti” N334-335 mall, the wire was pulled out from the repair clamp placed on one wire of phase “В” and the transmission line was shut down in an emergency. In both cases, there was a place for pulling out the cable from the repair clamps placed on the damaged cables between the fallen masts.

In the first case, in order to prevent a further accident in the mentioned section of the highway, in 2014, the damaged cables were replaced in the N104-N109 malls, for which up to 20 tons of cables were spent.

Also in other sections of “Imereti”, namely: N21-N24, N45-N48, N67-N77, N173-N174, N194-N196, N323-N328, N330-N336 and N340-N341 in Mali, in which there is an intermediate landslide in 1998-2006 masts and a large number of repair clamps were installed. In order to avoid the systematic nature of the mentioned cases, severe system accidents, accidents and large material losses, as well as for the reliable and safe functioning of the power system, 38 thousand meters (up to 56 tons) of AC 400/51 type cable were replaced in the above-mentioned areas in 2015 at the 500 kV substation “Imereti” and Appropriate mounting hardware.
