In accordance with the 2020-2030 and 2021-2031 ten-year plans for the development of the transmission network of Georgia, JSC “Sakrusenergo” has implemented the project, the name of which is “Dual chaining of 330 kV grid Gardabani-Agstafa”.
In accordance with the project, a new, two-chain power transmission line was built with the dispatch names 330 kV power station “Gardabani-1” and 330 kV power station “Gardabani-2”.
The mentioned power transmission lines replaced the existing single-circuit 330 kV power transmission line “Gardabani”, which was in operation since 1958 and had exhausted its operational resource.
“Sakrusenergo” obtained all the necessary permits for the implementation of the construction, purchased or registered the land with the right of use, signed a contract with the construction company, etc.
The construction-installation of two-chain 330 kV EGK “1.2” transformer and the dismantling works of the existing 330 kV EGK “Gardabani” started on April 12, 2021 in accordance with the contract signed with the construction company JSC “Energon”.
The progress of the works was supervised by the accredited A type inspection body – “Engineering Monitoring Group” LLC. There were no deviations from the project during the construction of the 330 sq.m. “1.2 transfer”.
The two-chain transmission line (“Gardabani-1” and “Gardabani-2”) successfully passed the test under voltage for 72 hours, during which time no observations were observed.
The construction of the new two-chain power transmission line was completed on May 30, 2022, and the 330 kV “Gardabani-1” power station was included in the energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan. The dismantling works of the existing 330 kV “Gardabni” were completed on July 21, 2022.
At present, all the necessary documentation has been prepared to be submitted to LSI “Technical and Construction Supervision Agency” for the commissioning of 330 kV power transmission lines “Gardabani-1” and “Gardabani-2”.
The length of 330 kV Egkh “1.2 Gardban” is 18,504 km. 69 masts and 232 km of AC-300/67 brand wires, two wires in each chain phase, were installed on the track of the power transmission line. Two-chain 330 kV power station “1,2 Gardabani” on the territories of Georgia and Azerbaijan is equipped with optical fiber network.
With the mentioned power transmission line, it is possible to exchange up to 700 MW of electricity with the power system of Azerbaijan, which will significantly increase the stability and security of the Georgian power system, and will significantly increase the reliability of uninterrupted electricity supply to the population of our country.
