According to the agreement with the National Dispatch Center of Georgia, the 500 kV power plant “Kavkasion” was under repair from July 5 to July 30, 2021 and was performed in accordance with the business plan of JSC “Sakrusenergo”.
According to the mentioned plan, the works on the so-called “Caucasion” were also carried out on the sections passing through the Kodori Gorge and the territory of Gali district, respectively on the sections between the N153-236 and N1-N19 towers.
Damaged and broken insulators and line armatures were replaced on the section passing through the Kodori valley of the EKH, under the transmission line and in the protection zone, clearing of trees and plants was carried out on the territory of 14 ha; Damaged and deformed angle brackets were replaced on the N229 mast.
On the territory of Gali region, the installation of missing angles was carried out on the N3, N4, N6, N8, N9 and N10 masts of the power plant. The foundations of the N5 and N8 towers of Egkh “Kavkasion” were strengthened by the arrangement of gabions. Other necessary and urgent works to ensure the reliable and safe functioning of the EGK were also performed.
The contractor company “New Metal Georgia” LLC performed the works on the sections of the former “Kavkasion” in the Gali region and the Kodori gorge. The works performed by the contractor were supervised by Yuri Nadiradze, the head of the design and maintenance service of JSC “Sakrusenergo”, and Sergo Mikawa and Tengiz Mikawa, foremen of Tsalenjikhis SSU.
As a result of the works carried out on the mentioned sections, the reliability of the so-called “Caucasion” was significantly increased, which is an important prerequisite for the normal operation of the transmission line in the autumn-winter period.
