25 years of continuity, safety and reliability

On May 27, 1996, based on the agreement on cooperation in the field of energy between the Government of Georgia and the joint-stock company “United Energy System of Russia” (РАО «ЕЕС Россия»), the joint-stock company United Energy System “Sakrusenergo” was founded.

By the time of the establishment of the joint-stock company, many problems had accumulated, the power transmission lines were in a deplorable state, the material and technical base was built, and the financial situation was catastrophic. Planned maintenance and preventive works were not carried out over the years, most of the transmission lines were damaged and required restoration and rehabilitation. A certain part of the towers was in a landslide, wind and avalanche zone, which required strengthening and other types of work, and in some areas – changing the profile of the line track. Emergency shutdowns were frequent, causing disruption of the country’s energy system and often total or partial shutdown of the system. All this was a heavy burden on the meager economy of the country.

500, 330 and 200 sq.m. Short-term and long-term programs for the rehabilitation of power transmission lines and started active work to restore the power transmission lines. Operation-repair areas were created, which were staffed with qualified personnel equipped with modern tools. Technically complex and large-scale works were performed in a limited time. First of all, the electric lines connecting to the energy systems of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia were restored and brought into compliance with the technical requirements of the same metro. transmission lines. Carrying out the mentioned works allowed the Georgian electric system to work in parallel mode with the energy systems of the neighboring countries. As a result of the performed works, the number of emergency shutdowns of power transmission lines was reduced to a minimum. The energy system began to perform its main and most important function – continuous and uninterrupted supply of electricity to the user.

Today, the company constantly carries out necessary preventive, reconstruction, repair and restoration works. Power transmission lines are operated by operation and maintenance areas located in different regions of Georgia (Tbilisi, Khashuri, Zestafoni and Tsalenjikh SSUs) and a branch on the territory of Russia – JSC GES “Sakrusenergo” Karachay branch, which is divided into Maykop and Karachayevsky operation and maintenance areas. The areas are staffed with qualified personnel and equipped with modern tools and special equipment necessary for transmission line service.

In recent years, in order to increase the productivity and operational efficiency of the company’s activities in the limited time spent in the repair of power transmission lines, the company’s special equipment park has been significantly updated and filled, including heavy equipment, which, in addition to planned works, has repeatedly participated in the elimination of problems caused by natural events in the country.

According to the 2019-2029 ten-year plan for the development of the transmission network of Georgia, the projects to be implemented by JSC “Sakrusenergo” are:

Construction of a new, double-chain 330 kV “1.2 transformer” connecting the energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan to the Georgia-Azerbaijan border;
Construction of 500 kV power line “Marneuli-Airum”, 500 kV power line “Mukhrani” from the N42 tower to the Georgia-Armenia border;
Rehabilitation of 500 sq.m. “Imereti” building;

Among the projects carried out in the recent period, it is worth noting the reconstruction of the 330 sq.m. “Gardabani-Aghstafa” (330 sq.m. “Gardabani”) owned by the company by doubling it.During the difficult pandemic period, the company managed to switch the double-chain 330 kV “1.2 transfer” on the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. In order to implement the aforementioned, it was necessary to install two 330 kV 1.2 Gardabani masts in the village of Kapanagchi, near the Red Bridge, and to connect cables and fiber optic cables to the 330 kV 1.2 Gardabani mast built in the border zone of Azerbaijan. .

As a result of the performed activities, the reliability of the company’s owned power transmission lines has significantly increased.In case of natural events or any unforeseen situation, the company is ready to eliminate problems in the shortest possible time, for which the staff is constantly ready at any time of the day or night to ensure the continuity, safety and reliability of the energy system.

The shareholders of JSC Sakrusenergo are: the State of Georgia, which owns 50% of the company’s shares and whose authority is exercised by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and from the Russian Federation – the public joint-stock company “Federal Network Company of the Unified Energy System” (ПАО «ФСК ЕЕС») , which owns 50% of the company’s shares
