Connection of the section between the N42-N109 towers of the 500 kV substation “Mukhran” to the 500 kV substation “Marneuli-500”

In accordance with the 2019 business plan of JSC “Sakrusenergo”, the works of connecting the section between the N42-N109 towers of the 500 kV power plant “Mukhrani” to the 500 kV Salte substation of Marneuli, which was visited by the management of JSC “Sakrusenergo” on November 20 of this year.

As is known, the 500 kV power transmission line “Mukhran”, which connected the energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan through the substations “Ksani-500” and “Mingechauri” (Azerbaijan), was robbed during a certain period of inactivity in the 90s of the last century. In 2011-2016, the restored and rehabilitated 500 kV substation “Mukhran” was divided into several parts, namely:

In 2011, the section between towers N1-N36 of 500 kV Mukhran was used in the construction of a new 500 kV Mukhran Valley, which connected substations “Gardabani-500” and “Samukh” (Azerbaijan). The length of the transmission line in the territory of Georgia was 20 km. The length of the transmission line on the territory of Azerbaijan is 100 km.
In 2016, within the framework of the 10-year program for the development of the transmission network of Georgia, JSC “Sakrusenergo” implemented the connection of the section between the N110-N281 masts of the 500 kV substation “Mukhrani” to the 500 kV salt of the “Marneuli-500” substation. The mentioned electric transmission line, the length of which is 56 km and connects the substations “Ksani-500” and “Marneuli-500” – was given the dispatch name 500 kV egh “Assureti”.
Within the framework of the ten-year plan for the development of the transmission network of Georgia, the construction of the 500 kV power transmission line “Marneuli-Airum” (Debeda) should be completed by 2022, which will connect the 500 kV substations “Marneuli-500” and “Airum” (Armenia), this project is named ” Marneuli-Ayrum”. The length of the mentioned electric transmission line in the territory of Georgia will be 37 km, and the rehabilitated 18-kilometer section between the N42-N109 towers of the 500 kV power plant “Mukhran” will be used as part of it. The length of the power transmission line on the territory of Armenia from the Georgia-Armenia border to the Airum substation is 10 km.

The works of connecting the section between towers #42-#109 of the 500 kV substation “Mukhrani” to the 500 kV substation “Marneuli-500” have been in progress since November 6. To implement this, foundations were arranged and new #109a and N109b (У2К+5 type) towers were installed. Currently, in agreement with the National Dispatch Center of Georgia, cable installation and portal connection works are underway, the estimated completion date of which is November 30, 2019.

Due to the scope of the works to be performed, the personnel of the transport service, together with the personnel of Tbilisi and Khashuri SSUs, have been mobilized for the production of the mentioned works – a total of 50 employees of JSC GES “Sakrusenergo” and 15 units of special equipment.

The progress of work is coordinated and monitored by Vakhtang Kikvadze, manager of operation and construction of electric transmission lines of JSC “Sakrusenergo”, and Felix Janashia, head of the labor safety service, supervises the safe production of work by the staff. An independent expert supervises and controls the hidden works.
