In agreement with the Georgian National Dispatch Center, the transmission line Kartli-2 (500kV) was taken out of service for repairs from April 10 through April 30, 2024.
During the outage period, the repair works defined in the 2024 Business Plan of JSC SAKRUSENERGO were fully completed, including:
- Replacement of contaminated and defective insulators;
- Installation of vibration dampers, arcing horns, and protective screens;
- Repair and replacement of damaged conductors within spans;
- Rehabilitation of access roads to towers and temporary in-span service roads using heavy machinery;
- Restoration of statutory clearance distances between conductors and ground;
- Aerial inspection of certain sections of the transmission line and execution of newly identified urgent works.
For the implementation of repair works on the transmission line Kartli-2, personnel from the Zestaphoni and Khashuri service units were mobilized, together with staff from the Tbilisi and Tsalendzhikha service units, as well as the Transport Service of JSC SAKRUSENERGO.
During the outage period, the works were coordinated and monitored by Andro Tskhadadze, Manager for Operation and Construction of Western Georgia Transmission Lines, and Vakhtang Kikvadze, Manager for Operation and Construction of Eastern Georgia Transmission Lines. Repair work safety supervision was carried out by Felix Janashia, Head of the Safety and Information Technologies Service, and Dimitri Andghuladze, Chief Specialist of the same service.
Approximately 50 employees of JSC SAKRUSENERGO and 25 units of vehicles and special equipment were mobilized for the repair works.
As a result of the completed repair works on the transmission line Kartli-2, the reliability of the transmission line has increased. This is particularly important for ensuring the stable operation of the power system during the upcoming spring and summer flood season and for maintaining uninterrupted electricity supply to the population of our country.
