In July, 2018, the employees of the UES JSC SAKRUSENERGO visited the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, Stavropol Krai and Krasnodar Krai to examine the technical situation on electricity transmission line Kavkasioni (500kV) on the territory of Russian Federation and monitor the rehabilitation process ongoing there. The issues regarding the efficient and effective management of Karachay branch office of UES JSC SAKRUSENERGO were also discussed during the visit.

Electricity transmission line Kavkasioni (500kV) is connecting the “Engurhesi” and “Centralnaya” substations 500 kV (Russian Federation, Krasnodar Krai). The length of the line comprises 405 km, 305 km of it is stretched on the territory of Russian Federation. The Karachay branch office of the UES JSC SAKRUSENERGO is implementing the administration and rehabilitation of this section of the line.  The branch office is divided into Karachay and Maykop districts operating in the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia and Krasnodar Krai.

In coordination with National Dispatch Center of Georgia, it is planned to put Kavkasioni (500kV electricity Transmission line) under repair from August 8, 2018. Within the rehabilitation process the damaged insulators and conductors will be replaced on the section of the line functioning on the territory of Russian Federation under the repair service agreement. In the framework of the agreement the territory adjacent to the transmission line will be cleaned from trees and bushes (without turning off the line), the moorings will be regulated and the robbed angular restored on the intermediate towers.

The conductors damaged in the span between the N 13 and N 14 towers, phase A, as a result of avalanche occurred in December, 2017, will be replaced within the rehabilitation process. It was planned to carry out repair work earlier, the period May 24-28, but due to the emergency situation existing in Engurhesi, it could not be done. The cutting down operation along the line will be performed on territory of 86 hectares in 2018.

The following operations will be carried out within the rehabilitation process on the territory of Georgia: the replace of the damaged insulators and line accessories, the replace and the repair of the damaged conductors, cutting down activities between and around the towers, ascending inspection of the electricity transmission line; The path to the towers will also be restored in Kodori gorge, basements will be repaired and the towers will be equipped with angles and bolts; Other type of work  that will guarantee safe and secured operation of the line.
