At the end of January of the current year, conductor damage was detected on the section of the 500 kV KAVKASIONI transmission line passing through the Kodori Valley, specifically in the span between towers No. 184 and No. 185. In particular, one conductor of the middle phase in this span had broken and was hanging down, buried in the snow.
Due to heavy snowfall and weather conditions, access to carry out restoration works was only possible on February 22, 2024. JSC SAKRUSENERGO dispatched Iuri Nadiradze, Head of the Design and Construction Service, and Tengiz Mikava, foreman of the Tsalenjikha Transmission Maintenance Unit. They were joined by specialists from SAKRUSENERGO and “Chernomorenergo” residing in Gali and the Kodori Valley.
The works were carried out under extreme conditions, in an environment of deep snow and freezing temperatures. Despite the unfavorable working conditions, the restoration works were completed within a short timeframe and with high quality.
