As we mentioned last year, in the vicinity of Khaishi village of Mestia Municipality, in the area where the 500 sq.m power station “Kavkasion” pylons #54 and N59 are located, erosion events were detected, which posed a certain threat to the stability of the aforementioned towers and the transmission line as a whole. Shutting down and leaving it out of operation for a long time.
In order to study the processes developed in the area where the supports are placed and to develop protective measures for the stands of the mentioned masts, an engineering-geological survey of the said and surrounding area was carried out, and the design and construction team of JSC “Sakrusenergo” developed the corresponding projects, which passed the examination at the National Bureau of Forensic Examination named after Levan Samkharauli. Reinforcement with gabions became necessary also on the access road to the N53 tower of the so-called “Kavkasion”, which was washed away due to heavy rains and posed a threat to traffic.
The gabion installation works at the N54 mast “B” phase stand of the former “Kavkasion” and the access road to the N53 mast were performed by JSC “Sakrusenergo” forces, and at the N54 mast “A” phase stand – by the contractor company “Electroxelmshen” LLC.
A total of 690 m3 gabions were arranged, including 140 m3 on the access road to the N53 mast, 190 and 360 m3 gabions at the N54 and N59 mast stands, respectively.
As a result of the performed works, the stability of the transmission line and the reliability of the energy system of Georgia in the coming winter conditions have been significantly increased.
