One of the most important projects included in the 2019-2029, 2020-2030 and 2021-2031 ten-year plans for the development of the transmission network of Georgia and to be implemented by JSC GE “Sakusenergo” is the construction of a new, two-chain 330 kV power transmission line “1,2 Gardabni” Construction. The said transmission line will replace the existing, single-chain, 330 kilovolt voltage transmission line “Gardabani”, which connects the energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan with the substations “Gardabani-500” and “Agstafa”.
Design and cost accounting documentation was prepared for the construction of the mentioned electric transmission line, and the assessment of the environmental impact caused by the construction of the object was performed. The right to use the land at the places where the masts are located and the construction permit for the construction and installation of the new power transmission line and the dismantling of the existing one were obtained. We signed a contract with the construction company JSC “Energon”, which started active construction works on the site in July of this year.
Since the beginning of the construction of the new double-chain 330 kV “1.2 transfer”, 12 mast foundations have been installed on the site for the current period. Orders have been placed for the supply of masts, wire and line fittings. The construction works are being carried out under the supervision of the AAP Archaeological Development Foundation and the Type A Inspection Body, Engineering Monitoring Group.
In connection with the implementation of the mentioned project, last year, in accordance with the order received from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, JSC “Sakrusenergo” carried out the switching of the double-chain 330 kV power grid “1.2 Gardabani” in the Georgia-Azerbaijani border zone, for which the power grid N63 and N64 masts and connection of cables and fiber optic cables from N64 mast to N158 mast of two-chain 330 EGK “1.2 converter” built on the territory of Azerbaijan, located in the border zone.
According to the tripartite agreements of “Georgian State Electric System”, “Sakrusenergo” and “Azerenergy”, the completion of the construction of the transmission line and the commissioning of the power plant are scheduled for the end of 2021.
The construction of a new two-chain 330 kV power plant “1.2 transformer” will significantly increase the independence and security of our country’s energy system. With the arrangement of the appropriate infrastructure, it will allow us to exchange power from 700 to 1000 MW together with the 500 kV “Mukhran Field” and will significantly increase the reliability of operation in parallel mode between the energy systems of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
