Inspection of the double-chain 330 kV power transmission line

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Romeo Mikoutadze, presented the completed large-scale energy facility on the border of the two countries, Georgia and Azerbaijan – the so-called The two-chain 330 kV power transmission line with dispatch names “Gardabani-1” and “Gardabani-2” was inspected.
The energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan will be connected to each other in a more sustainable and safe way, – it was mentioned in the information released by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
“General Director of JSC Sakrusenergo Bachana Suladze and General Director of JSC Georgia State Electricity System Giorgi Gigineishvili informed the deputy minister about the works carried out. The single-chain 330 kV power transmission line “Gardabani”, which was in operation since 1958 and had exhausted its operational resource, was completely replaced by the new transmission infrastructure.
According to the deputy minister, each chain of the new two-chain power transmission line can be loaded with a capacity of 700 MW, instead of the current 250 MW, which will significantly increase the stability and security of the energy system of Georgia, and increase the reliability of uninterrupted electricity supply to the country’s population.
The project “Doubling of the 330 kV power transmission line Gardabani-Agstafa”, in accordance with the 2020-2030 and 2021-2031 ten-year plans for the development of the transmission network of Georgia, was implemented by JSC “Sakrusenergo”. The budget of the project was 34.5 million GEL.
It should be noted that the construction was monitored by “Engineering Monitoring Group” LLC, the construction process was also under the supervision of “Archaeology Development Fund” LLC.
The 330 kV line “Gardabani-1” was included in the power system on May 30, 2022, “Gardabani-2″ will be connected to the network in accordance with the installation of a new autotransformer and the arrangement of the corresponding cell in the Gardabani substation.
The length of the double-chain power transmission line in the territory of Georgia is 18.5 km, and the total length is 64 km. 69 masts and 232 km of wires were installed on the power transmission line track. The line is also equipped with an optical fiber network,” the information says.
