Thirty years ago, on May 27, 1996, JSC United Energy System SAKRUSENERGO was established.
Today, JSC UES SAKRUSENERGO owns and operates 500 kV, 330 kV, and 220 kV transmission lines, including the interconnection facilities linking the power systems of Georgia and neighboring countries. These include the 500 kV KAVKASIONI transmission line connecting the energy systems of Georgia and Russia, the 500 kV Mukhrani Veli transmission line connecting the energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan, and the double-circuit 330 kV Gardabani 1 and 2 transmission line. The company also operates the internal 500 kV transmission lines Lia, Imereti, Kartli 1, Kartli 2, Asureti, and Mukhrani.
The Company’s mission and objectives are to:
• Maintain its transmission lines in proper technical condition and ensure their safe operation;
• Provide reliable and uninterrupted electricity transmission, including transit transmission services;
• Facilitate the parallel operation of Georgia’s power system with the energy systems of neighboring countries.
Over the course of its 30-year history, the reliability of the transmission lines owned by the Company has increased significantly. The Company’s personnel remain on constant standby to ensure the continuity, safety, and reliability of the power system.
