Relocation of Tower No. 295 of the 500 kV “Imereti” Transmission Line from a Landslide-Prone Area

During the summer of 2011, heavy rainfall and the resulting landslide activity in Western Georgia threatened the stability of Tower No. 295 (type U2+5) on the 500 kV “Imereti” transmission line, located near the village of Shuqeri, Opiri Community, Tkibuli Municipality.

Based on detailed geological and geodetic investigations of the site, a safe alternative location for the tower was selected. The corresponding engineering design was prepared in cooperation with “EnergoKselproekti” Ltd.

As part of the project, Tower No. 295 of the 500 kV “Imereti” transmission line was relocated to the newly selected safe location.
